The example

Imagine a two-minute interview with a founder called Siobhan Ní Bhriain about her app "Kiddo". Captyne's transcript is good, but it has a few classic problems: the name came out as "Shivon Nee Breen", the app as "kiddo", one "fifteen" became "fifty", and there are a few "um"s you don't want on screen. Let's fix them.

Step 1Open the review

On the Setup tab, make sure Open after transcribing is on under Review Transcript, then transcribe. The review opens with your audio loaded and the words laid out in order. A │ mark shows where each caption group starts.

💡

Already transcribed earlier? Your transcript is saved with the project, so you can open the review again without using any minutes.

Step 2Hunt the high-risk words

Before you play anything, skim the text for the words AI gets wrong most often:

Click each suspicious word to hear it on its own. One word in isolation usually settles it.

Step 3Do one fast listening pass

  1. Set the speed to 1.25× (or 1.5× for clean, slow speech).
  2. Press Space to play and follow the words.
  3. When something sounds wrong, press Space to pause, fix it, and carry on.

Step 4Fix, split and delete

ProblemDo this
"fifty" should be "fifteen"Double-click, type fifteen, Enter
"Shivon" "Nee" "Breen"Fix each word: Siobhan, Ní, Bhriain
"wellactually" (two words merged)Double-click, type well actually: it splits into two words
"um", "uh", a repeated "the"Double-click, clear the text, Enter: the word is deleted

Made a mistake? Undo edit takes back your last change. Every fix keeps its timing, so the word still appears exactly when it's spoken.

⚠

Deleting filler words removes them from the captions only. The audio is unchanged, so don't delete words the viewer will clearly hear unless you're happy for the captions to be slightly tidier than the speech.

Step 5Get capitals right

Captions show each word exactly as written, so this is the moment to type Kiddo, iPhone or an all-caps WOW. Your capitals are kept even if you transcribe the same clip again later: Captyne copies them onto the matching words.

Step 6Go to the Preview

Click Looks good — go to Preview →. From here you choose emphasis words, grouping and the preset, then generate. Because the text is already right, those decisions only need to be made once.

FAQ

Can I turn the review off?

Yes. Switch off Open after transcribing and Captyne goes straight to the Preview. You can still fix words there with a double-click.

Does fixing a word change its timing?

No. Fixed and split words keep the timing of the original word.

Where can I read about every control?

See Review Transcript in the Help Centre, and why a quick listening pass is worth it on the blog.
