The feedback
- "Can we try a rounder font?"
- "The highlighted words feel a bit big."
- "At 0:42 and 1:10 the line breaks feel odd."
We'll handle them in a deliberate order: text, then font, then size, then grouping. Each step changes word widths, so doing them in this order means nothing gets redone.
Step 1Fix any text first
If the notes include spelling or wording changes, do them first in the Interactive Preview: double-click a word, fix it, then use Apply changes. Only the phrases you changed are rebuilt.
Step 2Change the font
- Move the comp's playhead to a phrase that includes a long word. That's your worst case.
- On the Preview tab, open Edit Generated Captions.
- Pick the Normal style and choose the new font.
- Look at the phrase under the playhead in the Composition panel. It has already updated.
- Happy? Do the same for the Emphasis style if it should change too, then click Apply to all.
Every phrase updates, and the words re-space for the new letter widths so nothing overlaps.
Send the client a single frame of the new font before applying it to the whole video. It's faster for them to approve, and for you to change again if they don't.
Step 3Shrink the emphasis words
- Stay in Edit Generated Captions and pick the Emphasis style.
- Lower Scale a little at a time, for example from 100% to 85%.
- Check the phrase at the playhead, then click Apply to all.
Scale multiplies the preset's own animation, so a pop that overshoots to 120% still pops. It just starts from a smaller size. Use Size instead if you want to change the actual font size rather than the scale.
Step 4Regroup two phrases
- In the Interactive Preview, find the phrase at 0:42.
- Move the stray word to the line or group where it belongs, or merge or split the phrase.
- Do the same at 1:10.
- Click Preview at playhead to rebuild just the phrase you're looking at, or Apply changes to rebuild both.
Phrases you didn't change are not rebuilt, so everything else stays as it was.
Step 5Final check
- Scrub through the whole video once. Look for long words near the frame edge with the new font.
- Play the busiest section at full speed and check the emphasis pops still read well at the smaller size.
- Render.
Revisions without the rebuild
Edit Generated Captions is included in every Captyne plan.

Do I lose my marker timing tweaks when I change the font?
Changing a style updates the words' look and spacing. If you made timing tweaks by hand, check those phrases after applying.
Can I change only one phrase's font?
Edit Generated Captions changes a style everywhere. For a one-off word, give it another style (Style 3, for example) in the Interactive Preview.
