How to Get More Accurate Transcriptions (Language, Speakers and Audio Tips)
Captyne's transcription engines are very accurate on clear speech, but music, noise, accents and jargon can still trip them up. These settings and habits make the biggest difference.
Set the language when auto-detect guesses wrong
Language: Auto-detect works for most videos. It can guess wrong when a clip starts with music, silence or a short phrase in another language. If the text comes out in the wrong language or is garbled, choose the language yourself on the Setup tab. Whisper supports about 99 languages.
Tell Captyne how many people are speaking
For interviews and podcasts, turn Speakers on. This helps the engine split speech correctly when people take turns.
Choose a model quality
The Model option has Default, Best and Fast. Use Best for difficult audio, and Fast for quick drafts.
Give it clean audio
- Transcribe the dialogue track, not a mix with loud music. If you have separate stems, point Manual Media File at the voice-only file.
- Mute music and sound-effect layers in the comp before transcribing from Active AE Comp.
- Very quiet audio transcribes worse, so normalise it if you can.
Try a different provider
Engines have different strengths. If one struggles with a speaker's accent or with technical terms, try another, such as AssemblyAI or the Managed API. See Offline vs cloud transcription.
Fix the rest in the Preview tab
Fix whatever is left before you generate. Double-click a word to correct its spelling, delete filler words, and merge words that belong together, such as "single payer" → "single-payer". See Editing captions before you generate.
