Your Captions Are Saved With Your Project (No Need to Transcribe Again)
From Captyne 1.5.2, you never lose a transcript. Captyne saves the transcript and every edit you make in the Preview tab automatically, and restores it the next time you open the project. You don't need to transcribe again or spend more minutes.
What gets saved
- The transcript with word timings
- Your groups, merges, deletions, renamed words and line moves
- Emphasis roles and highlight choices
- Grouping, reveal mode, All Caps and Active Highlight settings
- The selected preset
Captyne saves about a second after each change. There's no save button.
Where it's saved
Captions are stored next to your After Effects project, in a folder named after it:
MyProject.aep → MyProject.captyne/
There's one small file per composition, so each comp keeps its own captions. Captyne also keeps a backup copy in its own settings folder.
Moving or sending a project? Copy the.captynefolder along with the.aep. If you use File → Save As, Captyne still recognises the project.
Restoring your captions
There's nothing to do. Open the project (or switch to the comp) and open the Captyne panel. Your captions come back with the message "Caption session restored — no need to transcribe again."
Each composition has its own captions. Switching comps in After Effects switches the captions in the panel.
Export and import a session
To copy captions to another project or send them to a colleague:
- On the Preview tab, open Transcript & Data.
- Click ↑ Export Session and save the
.jsonfile. - In the other project, open the comp and click ↓ Import Session, or use Load Transcript JSON. Both accept the file.
The imported captions are attached to the comp that's open at the time.
Transcribing the same audio again
If you transcribe the same audio again with the same provider and settings, Captyne reuses the earlier result instantly and no minutes are used.
